What is the Passport?
Passport is a government-owned document that the Ministry of Public Security issued to Vietnamese residents for entry and exit, for the purpose of nationality and identity verification. The validity period of a passport is no more than 10 years for citizens 14 years of age and older, and less than 5 years for citizens under 14 years of age
Types of Vietnamese passports
- According to Article 6 of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese citizens 2019 and Clause 2 Article 2 of Circular 73/2021/TT-BCA, there are currently 03 types of passports considered as immigration documents today, including:
- Diplomatic passport: sepia cover.
- Official passport: dark green cover.
- Popular passport: purple-blue cover.
In addition, travel documents are also used as a type of immigration document in addition to passports.
Subjects and duration of passports
- Coat of arms, Passport name printed on the outer cover of the passport, passport with electronic chip with electronic chip symbol.
- The image on the passport page is a beautiful scenery of the country and cultural heritage of Vietnam, combined with a bronze drum motif.
- Language of passport: Vietnamese and English.
- Number of passport pages excluding cover: 48 pages for diplomatic, official and ordinary passports valid for 5 years or 10 years and 12 pages for ordinary passports valid for less than 12 months.
- Dimensions conform to ISO 7810 (ID-3): 88mm x 125mm ± 0.75mm.
- Passport angle radius r: 3.18mm ± 0.3mm.
- The electronic chip is affixed to the back of the passport.
- The passport case is made of synthetic plastic for high durability.
- Passport letters and numbers are smoothly perforated by laser technology from the first page to the back cover of the passport, matching the first page letters and numbers
- All contents and photos printed on the passport are done by manual techniques. Modern technology meets security requirements, prevents counterfeiting risks and complies with ICAO standards.
Express passport service
- In some cases with limited time, if you want to get a fast passport for personal use, you need to go through the express passport procedure. But if you do the procedure yourself, you may encounter many difficulties in the process of preparing and submitting the application to the competent authority. Example:
- Urgent business trip abroad, no passport
- Provincial household registration but no KT3 of Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. HCM, no time back local
- Passport valid for less than 6 months, not eligible for visa
- The passport is out or lost, garbage, damp, dirty or falsely reported to need urgent rework.
