According to Vietnam laws, children under 9 years old are allowed to have passports shared with their parents. However, when needed, parents can apply for a separate child's passport. 1. Documents required
- Passport application form TK01
- Declaration form X01
- 02 4x6 photos of father or mother to reissue passport
- 04 4x6 photos of the child
- Citizen identification card of the applicant as father or mother
- Copy of the child's birth certificate or birth certificate extract
2. Agency receiving documents
- Citizens can submit applications directly at one of the following two agencies:
- Immigration Office of permanent or temporary residence
- Immigration Department
3. Procedures for separation of passports
- Parents who want to separate their child from their passport must follow these procedures:
- Parents whose child’s passport is attached to their passport fill out form TK01 to proceed with reissuing their passport
- Submit 02 4×6 cm ID photos for passport, taken no more than 3 months ago, bare head, straight face, white background
- The parent fills out the declaration form and attaches the child’s photo which should be stamped on by the Ward’s police
- Attach 04 4×6 cm ID photos of the child, taken no more than 3 months ago, bare head, straight face, white background
- When submitting the application, the parent must present the original ID card
- Attach a copy of the child's birth certificate. When submitting the application, the parent must bring the original birth certificate of their child for comparison
- In case of applying for a temporary residence, it is necessary to provide 01 original and 01 copy of the temporary residence book
4. Fees and charges
According to Circular No. 25/2021/TT-BTC dated April 7, 2021, of the Ministry of Finance, the fee for renewing ordinary passports is 200,000 VND/passport.
When submitting the application, the passport of the parent whose passport is combined with the child's passport should be submitted. In case the passport is lost, a passport loss report must be submitted. If the passport is lost or damaged, the passport replacement fee is 400,000 VND/passport.
5. Time processing
The time limit for processing passport renewal applications according to regulations is 05 working days from the date of receipt of valid documents. However, the actual processing time may be faster or slower depending on the number of documents being processed. Therefore, if you plan a trip or business trip abroad, you need to submit your application at least 30 days before the departure date to receive a passport for the trip.
