Starting from April 17, Tan Son Nhat Airport’s new Terminal T3 officially welcomed its first domestic flight — marking a major milestone for Vietnam’s aviation sector. If you are flying with Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air, be sure to check out the following important information to ensure a smooth and on-time departure.
Inspired by the elegance of the Vietnamese ao dai, Terminal T3 isn’t just a modern infrastructure—it’s a new symbol for the country’s aviation development. With a capacity of 20 million passengers per year and a total investment of nearly VND 11,000 billion, T3 is developed by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
Strategically located next to Terminal T1, T3 faces the newly built road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa, offering convenient access from various directions.
Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air: All domestic flights of these two airlines now operate from T3.
Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and VASCO: These airlines continue to operate at Terminal T1.
Be sure to confirm your terminal in advance to avoid arriving at the wrong location and wasting valuable time.
Terminal T3 features one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total construction area of 112,500 m², including:
90 traditional check-in counters, 42 self-service kiosks, and 20 automated bag-drop counters.
25 security checkpoints with glass partitions.
Baggage systems with 6 outbound and 10 inbound carousels.
A multi-level car park integrated with retail and office spaces.
Depending on your departure point, here are the most convenient routes to T3:
From Terminal T1: Go straight along Truong Son Street → turn onto Phan Thuc Duyen → arrive at T3.
From central Ho Chi Minh City: Nam Ky Khoi Nghia → Nguyen Van Troi → pass Hoang Van Thu Park → follow the Tran Quoc Hoan connector → reach T3.
From the East (Thu Duc City): Pham Van Dong → Truong Son → Tran Quoc Hoan road → arrive at T3.
From the West/South (Tan Phu, Binh Tan, An Suong, Binh Chanh): Cong Hoa → connect to Tran Quoc Hoan → reach T3.
From Truong Chinh: Via Cong Hoa → turn onto the expanded Hoang Hoa Tham or 18E Street → access T3.
Electric shuttle service: Operates every 20 minutes between terminals, making it easy to transfer from T1 or T2 to T3.
Taxis and ride-hailing services: Convenient and can drop passengers directly at T3.
Public buses: Routes 109, 152, 72-1, and 103 stop near Terminal T3. Route 109 is a popular choice due to its proximity to the terminal.
Personal vehicles: Parking is available near Terminal T1, with shuttle service to T3.
Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your departure time to complete check-in and security screening procedures.
Pay close attention to signage and maps within the airport, especially during peak hours.
If you accidentally go to the wrong terminal, ask airport staff for help or take a ride-hailing car to T3.
Always check your flight details, including departure gate and check-in time, in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
Expected to become the most advanced domestic terminal in the country, T3 will be fully operational before April 30, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification. The first flight, operated by Vietnam Airlines on the Ho Chi Minh City – Van Don route, successfully took off on April 17.
Prepare ahead and enjoy a smooth, convenient journey from Terminal T3 – the new gateway to Vietnam’s domestic skies!
