Starting April 19, Vietjet officially begins operating direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Côn Đảo (Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu), making this spiritual destination more accessible than ever. At the same time, the airline has introduced a new "Green Offering Kit" service tailored for pilgrims visiting the island.
Ticket Rush on Opening Days
Within just two days of opening ticket sales, Vietjet's flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Côn Đảo quickly sold out, especially in Economy and Deluxe classes.
As of April 16, all tickets on the Hanoi - Côn Đảo route for the inaugural day, April 19, had been fully booked. The following three days saw a similar situation, with no seats left in Economy and Deluxe classes.
For the Ho Chi Minh City - Côn Đảo route, both the 10:30–11:10 and 13:00–13:40 time slots on April 19 were almost completely booked across all classes. Only a few seats in SkyBoss and Eco classes remained in the 13:00–13:40 slot. While demand slightly eased on April 20 and 21, Economy and Deluxe seats continued to sell out quickly.
Introducing Worship Kits for Pilgrims
In addition to common services like taxi and travel insurance, Vietjet’s website now features a new option: green offering kits named “4 Phúc.” The service caters to pilgrims visiting Côn Đảo and directly competes with local businesses that sell similar worship items.
Vietjet offers four types of kits—Phúc An, Phúc Cát, Phúc Tài, and Phúc Thịnh—with prices ranging from VND 450,000 to VND 6.4 million, depending on the contents.
The basic Phúc An kit (VND 450,000) is designed for offerings to the revered heroine Võ Thị Sáu. It includes a checkered scarf, incense sticks, a conical hat, cakes, a flower bouquet of ten white lotus and white chrysanthemums with decorative leaves, a five-fruit tray with lucuma and seasonal fruits, a prayer sheet, and a name card.
Phúc Cát (VND 900,000) and Phúc Tài (VND 2.6 million) are more elaborate kits, adding additional items to honor fallen soldiers.
Phúc Thịnh, the most premium package, costs VND 6.4 million. It includes seven offerings for Võ Thị Sáu, a 4–5 kg roasted pig raised on the island, a set of white pearls, Bông Lúa brand cosmetics, a bottle of perfume, and four more items for honoring soldiers.
Compared to local markets where similar kits cost between VND 300,000 and VND 1.3 million depending on materials and decoration, Vietjet’s prices are considered competitive. However, some travelers feel the airline’s service lacks distinctiveness compared to local vendors.
Currently, each passenger is allowed to purchase a maximum of two offering kits. Vietjet has not yet released detailed images of these worship packages.
